Tip for the Day
Experience without reflection equals nothing.
Do not miss the opportunity to spend a few minutes reflecting on your day and what you have learned. Write it down. Your future self will thank you.
Be Encouraged!
Quote of the Day
“What we put in our brain over the course of a lifetime stays there. That is the consequence of sin. The good news, however, is that Paul was right: our brain can be transformed by the grace of God and made new again.”
Did you find it encouraging that there is good news?
It is true - our brains will store everything we put into them. For those struggling with porn, this can be discouraging to hear. In my recovery, I have turned it around from a discouraging truth to a sobering thought. I cannot change what I did yesterday, but I DO have a choice in the here and now. Science has confirmed that our brains are capable of rewiring or healing itself in a process called neuroplasticity. Isn’t it interesting that Paul wrote in the Bible thousands of years ago, encouraging believers that a transformed mind is possible!
Verse of Encouragement
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Words of Wisdom
My reflections on Taking Every Thought Captive
The premise of this book is looking practically at how to renew our minds as Romans 12:2 invites us to do. The Bible also teaches we must take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthian 10:5). Mark does an excellent job of making this very applicable and relatable to men in recovery from sexual addiction. My AHA! moment was that our thoughts and fantasies are not something to be avoided at all costs or be ashamed of. Rather, they can be our teachers, bringing us messages from our soul. Getting Connected
Getting connected with other men who can journey with you is imperative in your recovery. At first, I know it is frightening to think about discussing your struggles with porn. It feels easier and safer to try on your own. How is it going for you, doing it alone? For most men, if you are honest with yourself, would have to admit that doing it alone isn’t working!
It isn’t working because sin and addiction grow in secrecy and isolation. You must bring it into the light. In the light is the only place you can deal with it. In the light you can receive accountability, encouragement, and freedom to be authentically YOU. I challenge you to find a safe place to bring it into the light.
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,
“Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.”
